Credit Card Reform: Good for Your Wallet?

President Obama has signed sweeping credit card reforms into law. The reforms are designed to protect cardholders from certain interest rate hikes, unfair fees, issuing, and billing practices, and generally require greater transparency and accountability from card issuers. While most consumer rights groups applaud the reforms as long overdue restrictions on deceptive and predatory practices, some serious points of concern were raised this week in the econo-blogosphere.First, Odysseas Papadimitriou provides a helpful overview of the bill's main features and how they'll likely impact your wallet, and concludes: "The credit card legislation will significantly change the way credit card companies conduct business... consumers will see smaller credit lines, higher interest rates, higher membership fees, and fewer 0 percent offers. Rewards offers will likely stay the same... While the effects of the legislation... may seem wholly negative, we strongly believe that the long-term effects will result in a net benefit for consumers."But Andrew Martin in the 'New York Times' Monday raised concern among those who pay their credit card balances in full each month and enjoy rewards programs with no annual fees. Martin certainly pleased the American Banker Association by presenting its quasi-threat "to look at reviving annual fees, curtailing cash-back and other rewards programs, and charging interest immediately on a purchase instead of allowing a grace period of weeks."Francis Cianfrocca falls in line: "The credit card industry will have no choice but to start raising fees on the people who do what your mother always told you to do: pay off your debts on time and avoid high-rate balances."But Bryan Caplan says the ABA's claims that responsible, low-risk card holders will suffer are just 'wrong, wrong, wrong... [Martin's 'NYT'] article is as crazy as a story about the minimum wage claiming that highly skilled workers suffer the most because employers need to 'make up the difference somewhere.' The correct retort, of course, is 'Yea, they make up the difference by buying less of the labor that now costs more.'"Tom Petruno also doesn't buy it: "If [card-issuing banks] really want to aggravate their best customers, they may have to factor in the risk that Congress could come back and hit them even harder. Better to count your bailout money and dim the rhetoric, boys."Former Dallas Fed president Bob McTeer notes this isn't the first time lawmakers have called bankers' bluff on credit card regulation, and acknowledges that "I will probably be one victim of the legislation," since he pays his balance in full each month to obtain frequent flyer miles. "Many of the credit card issuers brought this on themselves by some of their egregious actions and lack of proper communication with their customers... The economics of the situation and my gut are pulling in opposite directions."Barbara Kiviat doesn't accept that banks don't profit from cardholders like her who pay the balance in full each month. Reminding us of exchange fees card issuers charge, Kiviat asks, "Why would credit card companies, in the aggregate, do business with the 42 percent of American households that pay off their balance each month?"Likewise Ryan Avent: "If credit card companies could have been making more money on quality borrowers all along, why didn't they?... What seems more probable is that high-quality borrowers used to have more credit options available to them, and so credit card companies had to work harder to get their business. Now, in the midst of recession with many borrowing options -- including home equity lines -- no longer available, credit card lenders can squeeze more out their customers. They're the only game in town and can price accordingly."Felix Salmon concurs with Kiviat and Avent that high-quality borrowers were always profitable for card issuers, and adds: "The cost to society of having millions of individuals carrying large credit card balances with very high interest rates is vastly greater than the benefit to [no-balance cardholders] of having a reasonably convenient way of paying for goods in shops."Ezra Klein adds a worthwhile point: "There's a good reason for credit card companies to want lots of users who aren't very profitable. Imagine a world in which 42 percent of households pay their bills and 58 percent miss the occasional payment. Now imagine that the credit card companies lose a bit of money on the 42 percent and make a lot of money on the 58 percent. They still need that 42 percent. The credit industry works best when everyone has a credit card. That only happens when most places take credit cards. And that requires not only huge volume, but also credit card penetration across different segments of society. Credit cards have to be the norm everywhere if everyone is going to have credit cards and that 58 percent is going to contain the maximum number of people."Michael Hiltzik acknowledges that card companies "have been guilty of genuinely sleazy behavior," but he's compelled to stick up for them on some fundamentals: "Certain purported sins, such as raising rates and cutting credit limits for some borrowers, merely ratchet back the loose standards that helped lead us to economic perdition. For years we cursed the banks for showering Americans with easy credit. Now we curse them for tightening up."Dear John Thain is "worried that legislators have managed to put restrictions and requirements on credit card companies without taking the last step: making them ineligible to be waived in boiler-plate language." Salmon responds.Oh, by the way, Republicans managed to tack a completely unrelated gun rights measure onto the Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights Act of 2009. This left Joshua Morgan Brown irate: "How much easier this economic environment would be on us all if only we could walk into National Parks with LOADED weapons. I mean, yeah, I guess it's pretty cool to be able to visit Jellystone Park with an empty gun, but loaded? Now that’s stimulus."Personal finance corner: While you wait for the reforms to kick in, Consumer Reports has some suggestions for how to immediately negotiate better terms if you feel your card issuer has unfairly changed your rate terms. And finally, don't miss Colbert's take on the bill -- his credit card just got pre-approved for its own credit card!

Saving

All about saving money. When we old, of course nobody will taking care of us except kind hearted children that may be would contribute to us.

That's why we need to do planning for our retirement age. At least we must have at least RM 500K on the age of 55 years old, if not we are just like ordinary old people who unable to enjoy the golden age moment before we leave this world.

The most important now....

For me I have retirement plans are like

Saving from EPF : RM 100,198.00 as of today, I got another 15 years to accumulate the figure with approximate dividend of 4-8 percent annually.

Investment in Unit Trust (ASB) : RM 80,300.00 also as of today, I have another 15 years to accumulate with the dividend and bonus of 7-9 percent annually.

Saving from Life Insurance (Great Eastern) by the age of 65, I will receive a saving of RM 36,500.00 and

Investment in pension scheme with MCIS - Zurich Insurance for the amount of RM 38,375.00. By the age of 55 will be getting pension approximate amount of RM 750.00 monthly and throughout my life.

AND now I need to do some saving for my Tabung Haji account to perform haj. At the moment I only have about very minimum, that is RM 600.00. May be if I get some bonus from company I would increase the figure, InsyaAllah.

My vision and mission that is I hope another 15 years will manage to collect RM 500K for my golden age and I want to travel all over the world if possible.

That's it for the day. Happy reading...

Saving money for good

Where to start:
Save on gas by walking, biking, carpooling, or taking public transit.
Ditch expensive bottled water and drink tap water.
Substitute at least one vegetarian meal for meat each week.
Fix leaky faucets to save on your water bill.
Get a home-energy audit to see where you can reduce your power bill.
Start an organic garden to grow your own veggies and fruits.
Find books, CDs, and DVDs at your local library for free entertainment.
Borrow and swap for new-to-you things, and reuse stuff instead of shopping

The said that became a phrase

"All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you afterwards it all belongs to you ; the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was" - Ernest Hemingway

My lovely pets that I have

She is Marry the golden retriever
This one is Chai the hybrid Sherpherd with Rotweiller
and this one Kecik @ mummy the hybrid sherpherd and rotweiller
The three stuggest that I have at the moment
Chai is the most pampered one and most playful

I have few dogs at home as a guard and pet dog as well.

The above pictures shown the current that I keep at home. The gold color Retriever I got from a chinese who wanted to let her go and the Chai, I bought from a breeder and kecik I got for free from one malay.
How come I can keep a dog eventhough I m a muslim?
First question what is Islam ?
How to be a good muslim?
Why muslim can't keep dog?
How to perform prayer with dog at home?
The answer is
We can keep dogs if the dog to protect us from intruder. An riwayat said even Rasullullah s.a.w feed dogs and let the dog to give birth in his house till the dog out from his house itself.
The Malaikat won't be entering a house with dog, picture and so forth?
Yes the Malaikat is kind of allergic to dog but please do keep the dog outside the house if you are a muslim. Build it home outside from your home. Their duties is to give us a protection.
Do you know that, some syaitan allergic to dogs too. Therefore if someone try to harm you with spirit way, it wont be successful.
For everybody information, most richest group in Malaysia keep guard dogs example the late Datuk Zakaria had two guard dogs even the king faisal of Egypt also has dogs. Those muslim in Afghanistan keep dog for protection. Their army using dogs services to trace enemies.
To perform prayer we must "samak" with soil water one times and 6 times with taps water. Nowdays not so difficult we have Taharah soap to perform "samak". Life is so easy why make it difficult...
So what do you think ?
Me.... I m glad I have them.
They are the best friend to human
till now...happy reading.

Today is SUNDAY @ weekend-very interesting

I woke up early at 7:30 am eventhough SUNDAY. I dont like to spend most of my time in bed because time is short so I'll make sure every single second is worthwhile.

Usually every morning I give my lovely pets breakfast , bread and milk.

After that I make breakfast for us.

Weekend normally started my day with washing, cleaning or sweeping floor (instead of exercise I do houseworks)

But today is different, the agenda slightly different. I have to fetch my niece who starts her job as sales assistant on partime basis at Alamanda. She is on holiday for two months. So I advised her to work and gain some money and experience.

After sent her and her friend to Alamanda, I stopped by at Harven for manicure and pedicure. Its cost me RM 75.

Earlier wanted to go to TERIMEE for facial but I dont feel like going for facial this Sunday because I just done it at Salinaz Beauty at Alamanda last week.

After did the manicure and pedicure, I went to visit the lovely lace where my niece and her friend rendered their services until 10 pm tonight.

On the way to car park, I stopped by at Big Apple for 6 donuts for RM 11.50. I love duran flavour then went home.

Tonight at 10 pm, I am going to fetch them from Alamanda and send them to Taman Saujana Impian.

Hopefully by tomorrow I could get a place for my niece and her friend to stay in Presint 9 or 11 so that I no need to fetch them anymore.

Tomorrow also I am going to give them some monies for opening of AMBANK account for their salary to be credited.

Thanks God the opening the account that not so expensive like other bank. Just as low as RM 20 for basic saving account.

Eventhough the activities this weekend quite boring but I feel satisfied that I helped people in need. So hopefully, she would treat the same to others or to ME, the second aunty in the family.

Till then...

Healthy products with healthy lifestyles

Recently I went to Alamanda, a salesman approached me with a mystery gift. Once I opened it. I got RM 100 rebate with free gift that is 15 pcs stainless steel cookware for a value of RM 2999.

I got shocked awhile and not managed to escape as they are too persuasive on the "extra" price that I got. By buying one of their product I can get the "extra". Somehow or rather, I also feel so excited about the gift and agreed to buy their vacuum for the amount of RM 2699.00. Then after I agreed to buy another offer. I got multicooker and a warmpot thermos(to keep foods warm all the time).

And then, another offer that is if I choose something else I will get extra 50% discount. oooo my God......I was trapped with their marketing strategies!

Felt fasinated but I managed to refuse to buy somemore.

Before I left they gave me a platinum member card which if I buy anything in future I got 20% and If I bring friends, theres another mystery gift.

When I got home and straight away I opened up the vaccum. I m quite like the vaccum. Of course, it is an expensive vacuum that I ever bought. I do like the 15pcs stainless steel cookware and multicooker also warmpot thermos.

Anyone who like to browse their website, please feel free to click at http://www.frico.com.my/

Good items, good quality, value for the money.
After all the above happened, I felt a bit regret because I bought something that unnecessary (as I have already a vacuum) but good things I am a member of frico so I could get extra service from them...mmmmm

P.S : I m going to buy the energy water system filter in the near future. Not now, because no money already.

Till then. See ya

Investment of ASB

I have put RM 80K in the ASB and annually I 'll collecting about RM 7-8 K.

Return investment calculation will be

1st year = RM 7 K (roughly estimation for the dividend and bonus)
2nd year = RM 7K + RM 7K + RM 600 = RM 14,600.00
3rd year = RM 7K + RM 14,600 + RM 1200 = 22,800.00

Just imagine if I put in there for 15 years?

How much would it be?

How much the value of me in 15 years?

Am I going to retire with comfortable life?

Am I going to be a traveller during golden age?

Am I ?

Emptiness

"Meditation is nothing but coming to terms with your inner emptiness: -"

""recognizing it, not escaping; living through it, not escaping; being through it, not escaping. Then suddenly the emptiness becomes the fullness of life. When you don’t escape from it, it is the most beautiful thing, the purest, because only emptiness can be pure.""

A Heart Give this heart to everyone you don't want to lose in '09 including me if you care. Try to collect 12, it's not easy

'Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.' ==========================================================================================A Sharp tongue can cut my own throat.

If I want my dreams to come true, I mustn't oversleep.

Of all the things I wear, my expression is the most important.

The best vitamin for making friends..... B1.

The happiness of my life depends on the quality of my thoughts.

The heaviest thing I can carry is a grudge.

One thing I can give and still keep...is my word.

I lie the loudest when I lie to myself.

If I lack the courage to start, I have already finished.

One thing I can't recycle is wasted time.

Ideas won't work unless ' I ' do.

My mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open.

The 10 commandments are not a multiple choice.

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime!

It is never too late to become what I might have been.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.

So love the people who treat you right.. Forget about the one's who don't.

Believe everything happens for a reason.

If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.

If it changes your life, let it.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Friends (I added in 'Girl / Boy Friends J) are like balloons; once you let them go, you might not get them back. Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives and problems that we may not even notice that we've let them fly away. Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we forget what's right and wrong. Sometimes we just don't realize what real friendship means until it is too late.

Continued...

During the show at Song Dynasty theather

After Suzhou, we went to Hangzhou.

Hangzhou is full of scenic. This country famous with scenery and legends stories to tell. Their foods so delicious, the fish soup, the varities of satay, the veges offer us varieties of taste. I had tried all of their foods. I like it so much. The most interesting that they offer halal foods for muslim.

The legends stories that been told by our tourist guide also quite interesting example snakelady, broken bridge, and etc.....

China one time ago was invaded by Japanese. History stated Chinese and Japanese previously was related. Due to uncompromised matters that arise this one Chinese group ran away and left mainland to one Island and now known as Japan. They had changed everything including name, race and language.

However when this Japanese invaded Mainland they become too cruel and kill most chinese.

For information, Japanese not only invaded China Mainland but all countries in Asia Pacific including Malaya. Now even they can't invade with attacks but different way of invasion by penetrating of all their goods and technologies therefore they still be known to the world that they are concurring the world without figthing.

The last day we went to watch Song Dynasty theater. The show very alive and impressive. I like it so much.

Been told by our tourist guide also that in Hangzhou has many beautiful ladies with or without make up...they look beautiful. (p.s : this is suitable for those who are looking for life partner, pls visit hangzhou......happy searching then!!!)

I hope that I could visit the 7 wonders that is Great Wall, Yellow Mountain and experience snow in Mainland China in this coming winter. (hope that I have enough money by then :))

Till then...will story my next trips to all of my visitor. Thanks for visiting and reading my blog.

The trip photos

The first day of Shanghai Trip.

We went to the bund, overlooking Shanghai city centre. The river to big and so interesting overlooking the historical buildings from many countries architecture.

The biggest and oldest clock in the Asia Pacific look interesting too.

Senario of Shanghai City that impressed those who coming to shanghai not because of they have talls and various design of building and different architecture but to see the west side and north side with two different view. Very scenic.

We had been told by the tour guide that every day in Shanghai itself people come and go about almost 2 million. So congested. Till some people could eat the next person breakfast due to the congestion in the Metro during their trip to their work places.

We went to Nanjing Road for shopping. We got shanghai tshirt for 30 yuan but before they seller asked 80 yuan. We knocked down the price till to the lowest.

There is a mosque in the middle of the Shanghai. Showing that the islam had been in China for the past 500 years ago brought by the traders from Middle East. Very interesting.....

Before we departed to Suzhou there is another place we went is called old china street - Chenghuangmaio old town. We bought some souveniors for family and friends.

The above photos were taken in Shanghai and Suzhou.

In Suzhou, we found that very advanced industrial area that produce electronic goods, very modern city offers good life those who working and living here. Then, we went to Lion Grove Garden and Panment Water City gate and then shop at the one one silk factory.

There are some more photos to show and story to tell but the time not permitted me to continue the process therefore we continue later when I have free time to kill.

Symptoms to Expect when You Improve Your Diet By Dr Stanley S. Bass

If I were asked which is the area of greatest misunderstanding and confusion in the field of nutrition I would immediately be forced to reply that it is the failure to properly understand and interpret the symptoms and changes which follow the begining of a better nutritional program.

Retracing

The body begins a process called retracing. It says to itself, "Now we have chance to get rid of this old garbage and build a beautiful new house. Let's get started immediately. Let's get this excess bile out of the liver and gall bladder and send it to the intestines for elimination. Let's get the sludge moving out of the arteries, veins, and capillaries. These smelly, gassy, brain stupeying masses have been here too long-out with them!

These arthritic deposits in the joints need cleaning up. Let's get these irritating food perservatives, aspirins, sleeping pills, and drugs out of the way, along with these other masses of fat which have made life so burdensome for us for so long. Let's get going till the job is down - till we have a beautiful house- and from there on we'll keep it a beautiful ideal model house". Druing the first phase (called catabolism), the accesnt is on elimination, or breaking do-of tissue. The body begins to clean house- in short, to remove the garbage deposited in al lthe tissues-everywhere. During this period, the body remove the ashes from the furnace preparatory to getting better fire. Here the accentuation is on removal of the gross and immediately body obstructions. Wastes are discarded more rapidly than new tissue is made from the new food.

This become evident as weight loss .... Returning to the symptoms which occur on a superior nutritional program, people who have had tendencies in the past to recurring skin rashes or eruptions will frequently tend to eliminate poisons and harmful drugs through the skin with new rashes or eruptions. If they go to a doctor now who is not familiar with this aspect of nutrition, he will diagnose it as an allergy

They ask, " How come? I'm eating better now than I ever did before, and instead I'm getting worse." They don't understand that the body is retracing.

The skin is getting more alive and active. It's throwing out more poisons more rapidly now that the body is building more power which is saved from those hard to ingest meals which have been discontinued. These toxins being discarded are saving you from more serious disease which result if you keep them in your body too much longer-- possible hepatitis, kidney disorders, blood disease, hear disease , arthtiris, nerve degenrations or even cancer-depending upon your heredity or structural weaknesses.

Be happy you're paying your bills now in an easy-payment plan...

Those who have lived better lives in the past--who have eaten better foods and who ahve abused their bodies less with over-eating will ahve reactions ranging from almost none at all or very mild symptoms which may uncomfortable or acute.

Those who ahve lived worse lives and poisoned themselves more will experience more severe symptoms if their liver, kidneys or other important eliminating organs have been damaged.

When they have been renovated to the point of fair working order, they will no longer produce symptoms.....

Headaches may occur at beginning; fever and/or colds may also appear; the skin may break out; they may be a short interval of bowel sluggishness, occasional diarrhea, feelings of tiredness and weakness, disinclination to exercise, nervousness, irritability, negativity or mental depression, frequent urination, etc..

However, the great majority of people find their reactions tolrable and are encouraged to bear with them because of the many improvements which have already occurred and are becoming more evidentwith each day.

This acts as an inspirational force to them...

The symptoms will vary according to the materials being discarded, the conditions of the organs involved in the elimination, and the amount of energy you have available. The more you rest and sleep when symptoms are present, the midler they are and the more quickly they are terminated.

Be happy you are having symptoms

Realize deeply that your body is becoming younger and healthier every day because you are throwing off more and more wastes which would eventually have brought pain, disease and much suffering.

Those who have the wors sumptom-reactions and follow through to their successful termination are thus avoiding some of the worst diseases which would eventually have developed had they continued their careless eating habits.

Don't expect to go on an ascending scale of quality, that improving your diet will make you feel better and better wach day until you reach perfection.. The body is cyclical in nature, and health returns in a series of gradully- diminishing cycles.....
